Fri Nov 22 13:10:58 PST 2024 If you suddenly start getting osascript notifications instead of macos_notifications after a MacOS upgrade, then try reinstalling this software; it's possible Apple upgraded the version of Python included with the OS, causing your prior install of macos_notifications to no longer be found. This was an issue on MacOS 15.1.1 at least. Also, if you suddenly get gibberish in the pid selector, try uprading from MacOS 15.1 to 15.1.1, or using a version of CPython you compile yourself. 15.1's CPython had a problem with the pid selector (curses) unless you used Apple's terminal emulator. The problem appears to be corrected in 15.1.1. -----. Annoyingly, for mac_notifications to send notifications, you need to go to System Settings -> Notifications -> Python and "Allow Notifications". While you're in there: I recommend selecting "Alerts" instead of "Banners"; this should make the notifications more insistent.
