Desktop system

About the system I sit in front of:

I greatly prefer to sit in front of a Linux system. Almost any Linux will do, but my home machines run Debian.
- I have a lot of scripts written for *ix that increase my productivity.
A Mac OS/X machine is an acceptable alternative.
I'd really rather not sit in front of a Microsoft Windows system, even if I'm allowed to use Cygwin.
