- Dune - clash of power between House Atreides and House Harkonnen, with the emperor as a wild card. Heavily political SciFi.
- Mighty Joe Young - young woman protects giant gorilla
- Jersey Girl - class difference between lovers
- Dying Young - Julia Roberts loves a man who's dying
- Pretty in Pink - Molly Ringwald, class difference between young lovers, she seems to have fallen in love with the wrong guy
- Dare to Love - Woman develops schizophrenia, man is scared to get back
into a relationship with her when a new drug is found that helps her a lot
- Star Trek VI, The Undiscovered Country - high ranking Klingon and Federation officials conspire to asassinate a Klingon ambassador, framing Kirk and ending negotiations
