• test-network is a simple script that tests network performance on a sun system in a variety of scenarios:
    1. 10BaseT, Half Duplex
    2. 10BaseT, Full Duplex
    3. 100BaseT, Half Duplex
    4. 100BaseT, Full Duplex
  • The basic algorithm: try pinging a host a few times, and if there's eventually a response, then send a constant amount of data to a remote host via ssh, and time how long it takes.
  • Interpreting the results: Look for the "real" time; lower values are good.
