Kansai Ki-in Senshuken

From 1955 to 1974 a Kansai Ki-in Championship (関西棋院選手権戦) was held, sponsored by Kobe Shinbun. (This is not the same as the Kansai Ki-in 1st Place Tournament described below.) Komi was 0, later 4.5. There was an intermission in 1962-1965, when this championship was part of the Kansai Ki-in Red-White Win & Continue Tournament.

In 1975 this championship was merged with the Nihon Ki-In Championship to form the Tengen.

Kansai Ki-in 1st Place title games

This page gives the title games (in SGF format) for the Kansai Ki-in 1st Place (関西棋院第一位決定戦) title. For results of the tournament, see the subpages linked to in the first column.

The tournament is sponsored by Sanyo Shimbun, and this newspaper also sponsored some special games.

Up to 1964 the final was a single game. In 1965-2006 the first place was determined by a best-of-three match between the last two players left. After 2006, the knockout tournament produces a challenger, and the title match (again a best-of-three) is between the title holder from last year and the challenger.
